Video: Inside Glen Cove Police Department's 'Project 21'

Patch followed Sgt. Pat Hall and other GCPD officers in the anti-underage drinking program.

Out of 25 Glen Cove establishments, not one business sold alcohol to a minor on March 29 during Glen Cove Police Department's "Project 21."

The project – funded largely through grants from Glen Cove SAFE  program – sends volunteer city youths into local businesses to try and purchase alcoholic beverages.

While each youth is accompanied by an undercover officer, Sgt. Pat Hall said that the procedure is not one meant to trick store owners and employees; rather volunteers are instructed to reveal their true age. Hall also said that the youths are not dressed to appear over 21.
