- School officials in the Glen Cove School District revealed at a school board meeting this week that they are currently interviewing candidates to fill open administrator positions next year. The district is currently in need of a Katherine A. Deasy Elementary School principal and a director of athletics, physical education and health.

- Beach goers in Glen Cove had one less option on Thursday after the Nassau County Health Department closed Pryibil Beach temporarily that morning as a way to protect residents from possible high levels of bacteria in the water. Health officials contended that the levels could have increased after runoff from Wednesday's rainstorm hit beaches on the North and South shores. Pryibil Beach was reopened on Friday.
