- The City Council announced at its meeting on Tuesday that it is considering extending the term limits for the mayor and council members from two to four years. The change, city officials said, needs to be approved by a public referendum.  

- The council also appointed residents Eddy Linares, Steven Grella and Teddy Karousos as officers in the city's police force on Tuesday as well as promoted officer Jack Mancusi to sergeant.

- Nassau County authorities announced earlier this week that they arrested a Glen Cove man for fraudulently collecting in workers' compensation as a Metropolitan Transportation Authority employee. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison. 

- Patch also caught up with Police Chief William Whitton for an interview about his leadership on the police force. Whitton said that ensuring that teamwork remains a priority at the department is key to its success.
