Heavy Rains Cause Flooding in the City

Today's slow-moving storm creates a messy day for Glen Cove residents.

Although today's rainstorm is starting to lose its intensity, it has already caused flooding, telephone line damage and more in Glen Cove.

According to the National Weather Service, the city is expected to get as much as four inches of rain as the storm makes its way through the Tri-State area. A mixture of light and heavy wind has also hit the city since this morning.

The service has also issued Flood, Coastal Flood and High Wind advisories for the city until later this evening. Weather authorities expect the heavy precipitation to continue until Tuesday morning, with a mixture of light winds and patchy fog.

The wet and windy weather, however, has already wreaked havoc in some parts of the city. Beach and Morgan Island roads are suffering from flooding and the storm's gusty winds caused a telephone line on Walnut Street to fall down this afternoon.
