Incumbent , D-Glen Cove, leads the race for the , but Republican challenger Robert Germino won't concede.
"No concession yet," Germino said Tuesday at 11:45 p.m. But his campaign manager, Scott Castillo, had just reported incomplete results that had his candidate 10 points down from Lavine.
"Looks like it'll be a long night," predicted Germino.
Not ready to declare victory, Lavine thanked a crowded room of supporters, especially his campaign managers, Ronnie Lavine and Diane Beecher. At 11:15 p.m., with only 36 of 124 precincts reporting, Lavine was leading 52.8 percent to Germino's 37.4 percent.
"It's a difficult environment to be an incumbent but I'm very grateful to all the people who came out to vote, especially those who supported me," Lavine said.
