2013 Glen Cove School Board Candidates Announced

Incumbent, former Board president and former candidate running for two open seats.

Three candidates will vie for two seats on the Glen Cove Board of Education in the May 21 election, according to the district.

Incumbent and Board vice-president Grady Farnan, former Board president Richard Maccarone and Eric Bailey, a parent and candidate during last year's election, have declared their candidacies.

Seats currently occupied by Farnan and Ida McQuair will be up for grabs.

Farnan is a lifelong Glen Cove resident and founding member of the Glen Cove Junior Lacrosse League. He is finishing his first term on the Board. He was elected Board vice-president last year.

Maccarone owns Valley Sport & Trophy in Glen Cove. He opted not to defend his seat when his term ended in 2012.

Bailey made his first bid for the Board last year. Of five candidates running for three seats, he took fourth with 621 votes, 100 less than David Huggins's 719.

A formal "Meet the Candidates" night will be held May 13 at Finley Middle School at 7:30 p.m., one week before the vote.
