We had problems at Finley School this morning - all the tables were switched around so we were unsure where the book was with our registrations. We were turned away at several tables until we were sent back to one of the tables who told us we would have to vote by affidavit. We insisted that we'd been voting at this site for 22 years and we should be listed. Finally, one of the tables that also turned us away found our names and we were given ballots. After filling them out, we were told the scanning machines were jammed and that our ballots would be hand counted. When we protested, we were told they we should "trust" them.
Incredibly confusing and frustrating with little help from the people working behind the tables. The fact that all the scanners were jammed seemed highly suspect but I certainly won't go into any conspiracy theory. We were told a "bipartisan" group was on the way to investigate the problem. Terribly handled - seemed completely archaic considering that we're in the 21st century. I did send a follow up note to the Board of Elections.
