Battle of the Bulge Vets Honored at Old Bethpage

Ceremony remembered the sacrifice of 19,000 Americans killed in the last major German offensive of WWII.

Nassau County and local dignitaries paid tribute to veterans of theBattle of the Bulge, the brutal winter ordeal that comprised the last German assault of World War II. 

Assemblyman Charles Lavine, D-Glen Cove, were among those who addressed the crowd on the recent anniversary of the battle, fought in the dense forests of the Ardennesregion where 19,000 Americas died in December 1944 and into January, 1945. 

The tribute program was held at the construction site of the Museum of American Armor at Nassau County's Old Bethpage Village Restoration. Joining Lavine was Bulge veteran William Mueller of Levittown, President of the LI Chapter of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge.

Also present was state Senator Charles Fuschillo, and Steven Napolitano, President and Chief Executive Officer, First Nationwide Title of Rockville Centre and a supporter of the museum.
