Cardboard Pickup Day Changed

Glen Cove's new recycling program will now collect cardboard on Wednesdays.

Cardboard being recycled will be collected on Wednesdays beginning this week, according to City Hall.

All cardboard is accepted under the city's new recycling guidelines.

The change is due in part to the fact that the city's recycling trucks are designed for plastics, newspapers and bottles, and cardboard is too bulky, said Mayor Ralph Suozzi.

The Department of Public Works will use its yellow paper-collection trucks for the pickups, which will coincide with yard waste and large metals collection day.
