The yearly permit for nonresidents will plunge from $875 to $495, which will decrease to $395 after July 4. Permits for nonresidents, Tuesday through Friday, will debut at $275, while will be set at $40.

As part of the new rate schedule, resident fees will increase from $75 to $95. Glen Cove residents Phil Govasto and Paul Meli questioned whether the changes would burden the residents' golfing experience.

"Our course has the capacity for a lot more rounds of golf," Suozzi said. "This move will help us compete with nearby courses. We're expecting up to 200 new golfers as a result. The only way to increase revenue at the course is to increase traffic."
