Over 22,000 plastic disks were collecting in one hour during a local beach cleanup on Saturday morning.

The Coalition to Save Hempstead Harbor organized the cleanup which encompassed Tappan Beach in Sea Cliff, Sea Cliff beach, Sea Cliff Yacht club beach, and Morgan's Park and Prybil beach in Glen Cove.

"The disks are recyclable plastic but there are discussions underway for a more creative use for the plastics discs that were collected," said Glen Cove resident and Coalition to Save Hempstead Harbor board member Corin Basilion.

Glen Cove Youth Honored by County

, was honored by Nassau County Executive’s Office of Constituent Affairs  on Tuesday. Glen Cove resident and former 13th Assembly District candidate Robert Germino presented Fowler with a citation on behalf of County Executive Mangano on Tuesday at the Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club.

Yatauro to Leave Nassau Legislature 

Yatauro – who was elected to the 18th Legislature District in 2003 and has served as Minority Leader since 2009 – said that she is leaving political life to focus her attention on family.

“Recent developments in my life have motivated me to re-evaluate my personal priorities," Yatauro said. "My daughter has transferred to a new high school to pursue studies in theater arts. My father-in-law passed away unexpectedly in December. These events have changed the focus of my life. I need to devote more time to my family."
