City Notebook: Soundview Awarded to JS Corp.

This week's City Notebook features Soundview Restaurant, Hunter's blaze and the upcoming Senior Recognition Day.

Operating rights to the  at have been awarded to JS Corp., Mayor Ralph Suozzi said at Tuesday night's special council meeting.

The term of the lease agreement is five years, effective April 1, 2011 through Dec. 31, 2016.

The City of Glen Cove Municipal Golf Course Restaurant Lease states the following:

"The City of Glen Cove has determined that it is convenient and necessary that there be  operated at the Glen Cove Municipal Golf Course at 111 Lattingtown Road, Glen Cove, NY 11542 (hereinafter “Golf Course”) a restaurant and related facilities, inclusive of the existing restaurant, patio area, Tiki bar, trade fixtures, equipment, furniture and one (1) mobile cart, as more specifically set forth in Schedule “A” annexed hereto and made a part hereof, for the accommodation of golfers and the general public. Lessor, in consideration of the covenants contained herein, for the rent and “key money” and upon the terms set forth herein leases to Lessee the space and areas referred to below as "demised premises" in the building(s) commonly known as the “Soundview Restaurant.”

Nassau County Fire Marshals are still investigating the at late Tuesday night.

The Forest Avenue Establishment broke out in flames just before 11 p.m. Tuesday night. The building was unoccupied and locked at the time of the fire, according to chief Anthony Tripp of the  said that the fire started in the waitress station of the dining room, and the cause is still under investigation.

Several fire departments reported to the scene, including Glen Cove, Glenwood, Locust Valley, Sea Cliff, Bayville, and even Hicksville.

Senior Recognition Day Vendors

The City of Glen Cove is seeking vendors for the fifth annual .

Seniors will have the opportunity to visit a variety of vendors offering informational and educational services. Over 100 seniors and their families are expected to attend the event

All proceeds will benefit the Glen Cove Sage Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing services for the senior community.
