With just weeks remaining until the 2011 general election, Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, candidate for Nassau County Legislator, 18th District, opened her campaign headquarters Oct. 6.
said the most important issue to her was the economy.
"We must take small steps, we can't waste anymore money," she said. "We spent $2 million on the Coliseum vote, we've wasted money fighting NIFA, we've wasted money in the redistricting process. There's millions and millions of dollars going to private law firms, and we have to cut that out before we go after employees."

DeRiggi-Whitton, D-Glen Cove, is running against 2010 13th State Assembly District candidate Robert Germino, R-Glen Cove.
DeRiggi-Whitton she would run for the position after Diane Yatauro decided to retire from politics to focus on family life.
