Nassau County Legislator Judi Bosworth (D-Great Neck) will be hosting a public hearing, in conjunction with Suffolk County Legislator William Spencer, on issues facing Long Island’s aquifer and drinking water on Aug. 29, 2012, at William H. Roger Legislature Building in Hauppauge from 6 – 8 p.m.
A public hearing has been called by the legislators to pursue ways to safeguard our water supply from pollution, overuse, saltwater contamination and other threats. The main focus of the meeting, entitled “Water Security: Bringing Long Island Together to Protect Our Aquifers & Drinking Water” will be on the need to increase water protection through public discourse.
Experts have been invited to testify about threats to our aquifer, and share some potential solutions to this very serious issue we are facing on Long Island. Residents are encouraged to join and let their voices be heard, as the legislators wish to address the concerns of the public at-large.
