Germino Nominated for Nassau Legislature

GOP officially nominated Glen Cove resident Robert Germino for Nassau Legislature Tuesday night.

Nassau County Republican Committee officially nominated resident Iraq War veteran and former 13th Assembly District candidate Robert Germino for county Legislature.

Germino – who is currently a member of County Executive Edward Mangano's Staff – was nominated by leader of the Glen Cove Republican Party Paul Meli at Wisdom Lane Middle School in Levittown Tuesday night.

Germino will run against to succeed incumbent Diane Yatauro, D-Glen Cove.

Yatauro – who was elected to the 18th Legislature District in 2003 and has served as Minority Leader since 2009 – that she plans to leave political life to focus her attention on family.

"I'm honored by my party's nomination for county legislature," Germino said. "My focus for this week is reflecting on our nation's fallen servicemen and servicewomen; accordingly, I will release details of my platform after Memorial Day."

Nassau County Republicans unanimously approved Germino's nomination.

While the 18th legislative district currently includes the communities of Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Bayville, Locust Valley, Brookville, Glen Head, Greenvale and Jericho, the approved plan to redistrict the county places Glen Cove into the 16th legislative district.
