Glen Cove's Financial Officer Wins Award

Anne LaMorte honored third consecutive year by national group that judges financial reporting by local governments.

Anne LaMorte, chief financial officer of two of the city's agencies dealing with community development, has been awarded recognition by a national association for her financial reporting, according to a city press release.

The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) presented LaMorte with its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting, its highest honor, for her "comprehensive" financial reports for the Glen Cove Community Development Agency (CDA) and the Glen Cove Industrial Development Agency (IDA).

It is the third year in a row LaMorte has received the honor.

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association formed in 1906. It has awarded the certificate since 1945 in order to recognize state and local governments which surpass the minimum requirements for annual financial reports, honoring those who "evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure," according to its website.

"I am proud that the CDA and IDA, and Anne LaMorte as the chief financial officer, have been recognized with these prestigious awards for their outstanding work in financial reporting," said Mayor Ralph Suozzi in a statement. "I am pleased to have this opportunity to recognize Ms. LaMorte for all of her hard work year round.”
