Before the show, residents will have the chance to fill out holiday greeting cards for troops serving overseas as part of the American Red Cross's "Holiday Mail for Heroes" program.

“Sending a touch of home to American men and women who serve our country is the perfect way to express your appreciation and support during the holiday season. I ask each person who comes to this event to take time out to write out a card to be sent to our servicemen and women who protect our freedom. It will certainly help make their holiday a little bit brighter,” Venditto said.

Santa Claus will make an appearance and will be available for pictures after the show.

While admission is free, attendees are encouraged to contribute two canned goods for collection by Island Harvest.

The regular 6 - 8 p.m. public skating session at the rink will not be available, but the Town's outdoor rinks in Massapequa and Syosset-Woodbury Park will be open.
