County Executive Ed Mangano says accord will create jobs and improve its services and public safety.

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano joined by Presiding Officer Peter Schmitt and Minority Leader Diane Yatauro announced today the unanimous passage of the 2010 Capital Improvement Project Plan.

"This plan creates jobs and opportunities today and improves Nassau County's services and public safety," Mangano said in a statement. "It will establish the new 911 call center and begin to address issues at our sewage treatment plants."

Capital projects for 2010 include road maintenance and rehabilitation, park and facility infrastructure improvements, technology upgrades and other key upgrades. Mangano proposed a plan that provides, among other things, more than $18.5 million in park maintenance and improvements; $7 million for new 911 Call Center; $31 million in road and traffic improvements and $550,000 for the Nassau County Fire Service Academy.
