Meet the Library Trustee Candidates Tuesday

The Glen Cove Public Library budget vote is April 16.

A Meet the Candidates session for potential Glen Cove Public Library trustees is scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the library's Community Room.

One seat is open on the Library Board of Trustees in the upcoming budget vote. The term is five years.

The Board and a healthy budget make it possible for programs and services to be updated, according to the library.

"Over the past year, the Library has introduced some tools and training to help create an autism-friendly atmosphere. This effort included a program for parents of children with autism that addressed behavioral and educational issues. Our technology advances include the loaning of e-readers with pre-loaded new and popular titles, the necessary equipment and software for our videotaped oral histories, and additional databases for live student tutoring and personalized job searches. In addition, we have welcomed a new full-time bilingual Librarian to our staff. This has allowed us to run three on-going programs; Conversational Spanish, a Spanish Book Discussion and a children’s storytime with parent involvement in Spanish," the library said in a statement.

The annual vote is set for Tuesday, April 16. Polls will be open in the Community Room from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
