Locals React to Government Shutdown

North Shore residents share their views on Facebook.

With the first government shutdown since 1995 underway, locals have flocked to Facebook to vent. 

“Disgusting, disgraceful and they should not get paid like the other 800,000 people who cannot,” said Lisa Dellapina Racic on Port Washington Patch’s Facebook page.

“If congress[men] were furloughed too, guaranteed they would have reached an agreement yesterday, how do we get this changed?” said Gi Hyun Fujii on Glen Cove Patch’s Facebook page

“And they always will get paid and retain all the other perks they have because we will not all get together and demand otherwise!” said Charlie Bradley said on the Oyster Bay Facebook page.

“Congress members should not get paid during a government shutdown!” Matthew Silverstein said on Bayside’s Facebook page
