New Mayor, Council Members Take Office

Glen Cove's new mayor and city council members took office on Wednesday afternoon in the presence of a thousand people at Finley Middle School.

Glen Cove's new mayor and city council members took office on Wednesday afternoon in the presence of a thousand people at Finley Middle School, according to Newsday.

Mayor Reggie Spinello reiterated his campaign promise to fight illegal housing and bring more businesses into Glen Cove. His other pledges include not accepting a city vehicle, contributing to his health insurance, contributing 5 percent of his salary to the Youth Bureau, 5 percent to the Senior Center, and 5 percent to Veterans Affairs. 

According to Spinello's campaign page, his team pledges to stop wasteful spending, stop tax increases, revitalize our downtown, grow revenue, assist local merchants, bring new business to the city, improve the quality of life for residents and create real transparency in government.
