Glen Cove's new mayor and city council members took office on Wednesday afternoon in the presence of a thousand people at Finley Middle School, according to Newsday.

Mayor Reggie Spinello reiterated his campaign promise to fight illegal housing and bring more businesses into Glen Cove. His other pledges include not accepting a city vehicle, contributing to his health insurance, contributing 5 percent of his salary to the Youth Bureau, 5 percent to the Senior Center, and 5 percent to Veterans Affairs.

According to Spinello's campaign page, his team pledges to stop wasteful spending, stop tax increases, revitalize our downtown, grow revenue, assist local merchants, bring new business to the city, improve the quality of life for residents and create real transparency in government.

What would you like to see Mayor Reggie Spinello and the city council do in the next term?

I would like to see the new mayor cleanup some of the waste within city hall by looking at each department's spending, such as using city halls stationary for businesses and houses of worship for mailings.

Weren't they against Suozzi bringing in a Deputy Mayor a few years back from out of town? How is it that Spinello's appointment for the DPW is from Glen Head(Knolls Condos)! Is it a favor to Mangano, and Venditto?

TJ I'm not interested, are you telling me that you don't agree?

Is it true that the new mayor has created the position "Chief of Staff" just for one of his campaign supporters? Her salary will be about $60,000. When has a small town mayor ever had the need for both a Deputy Mayor and a CoS. I don't believe it is true but I can't get any information on it.
