Open Forum on Crescent Beach Set for April

The forum will be held at City Hall, Main Chamber on April 9 at 7 p.m.

Beach lovers, take note: Glen Cove Mayor Reginald A. Spinello will hold an open forum to discuss environmental issues at Crescent Beach. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. in the Main Chamber of City Hall.

“I think it important that residents of our community are made fully aware of the environmental problem that exists at one of our city’s favorite beaches," Spinello said, in a statement.

Spinello said that the focus of the forum would be not only problems at Crescent Beach, but also possible solutions.

Also attending will be representatives from the Nassau County Department of Health to answer questions, Spinello said.

Crescent Beach has been closed to bathing since June, 2009 due to elevated bacterial contamination from unidentified sources. The level is deemed unacceptable by NY State Department of Health standards.
