Rangers' Great Greschner Welcomed to Oyster Bay Rink

NHL star takes part in annual Family Skate Night.

Oyster Bay public officials recently welcomed New York Rangers' great Ron Greschner to the Town of Oyster Bay’s Annual Family Skate Night and Awards Ceremony at the Town of Oyster Bay’s Ice Skating Center in Bethpage.

The event wraps up the Town of Oyster Bay’s youth hockey season and provides the opportunity to thank the coaches and families for their support of the program.

Greschner played in the National Hockey League for 16 seasons (all with the Rangers). He scored 179 goals and 431 assists for 610 points. Greschner's best offensive season was 1977–78, when he scored 24 goals and 48 assists for 72 points.

In 2009, Greschner was ranked No. 12 on the all-time list of New York Rangers in the book 100 Ranger Greats.

“The Town of Oyster Bay’s Youth Ice Hockey Program is one of the finest in the nation and Family Skate Night recognizes everyone who helps support it,” said Councilman Chris Coschignano said. “In addition, our status as a premier partner with the New York Rangers allows us to add prestige to the event by having a special appearance from Ranger’s alumni like Ron Greschner."

"It’s another special night at our rink, which has outstanding events and activities all year long,” Coschignano said.
