Report: DWI Blood Samples Mishandled in Nassau County

A technician inadvertently switched two blood samples, according to a letter obtained by NBC.

A technician mistakenly switched two DWI blood samples, casting doubt on at least a few cases in Nassau County.

According to NBC in New York, Maureen McCormick, who heads the Nassau DA's Vehicular Crimes Bureau, sent defense attorneys a letter that stated the lab "inadvertently switched the order of two blood samples."

The initial lab reports in the cases were switched as well.

In the letter obtained by NBC, McCormick said the mistake seemed to be isolated, but added that her office wants to retest the blood in other cases handled by the lab technician who made the mistake.
