Sixth Precinct Merged With Third

County Executive Edward Mangano's was July 2 when the Third Precinct absorbed the Sixth - one of two that formerly worked with the Glen Cove Police Department. 

The other is the Second Precinct, which is also being merged under the plan.

Those precincts will be turned into which will be staffed but not used to run patrols out of or process arrests.

Opponents of the plan, which was approved by a vote split along party lines in the county legislature, have expressed concern about how the consolidation will impact affected communities.
