Taco Bell, Stonebridge Country Club Seek Zoning Board Approval to Expand

Town of Smithtown's Board of Zoning Appeals will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Senior citizen Center.

Two local businesses will seek variances necessary to expand from Smithtown's zoning board on Tuesday night.

Town of Smithtown's Board of Zoning Appeals will meet 7 p.m Tuesday at the Eugene Cannataro Senior Citizen Center on Middle Country Road. It will hold public hearings for the expansion of Taco Bell in Commack and Stonebridge Country Club in Smithtown.

Taco Bell in Commack will be seeking multiple variance in order to demolish their existing building and expand. Taco Bell wants to build a 2,639-square-foot restaurant that would seat 42 diners at their existing location. It seeks multiple variances that would allow the company to reduce its overall number of parking spots and increase the size and number of signs.

The owners of Stonebridge Country Club in Smithtown will also appear before the zoning board to request permission to build a 2,622-square-foot clubhouse expansion. Their plans include an expansion of the existing Stonebridge golf course and its parking lots.

If Smithtown patch would like to be of real value to the community on these issues, it may consider posting these things the day before the event, or at least early the day of the event. I didn't see this article until this morning, so what's the point?

Yes, it would be very helpful if we knew in advance rather than after the fact.

Hi Edward and Carol, Thank you for your suggestions. The article was posted Tuesday morning when the hearing was that evening. We will consider posting it further in advance, as long as the agenda is available. - Sara Walsh, Commack and Hauppauge Patch editor.
