Tell Us: Glen Cove's Financial Woes

What concrete, meaningful solutions do you think would rejuvenate the city?

Last week, Patch reported that Glen Cove was one of the financially stressed cities in New York by Comptroller Thomas P. Dinapoli.

The rankings were based on a review of debt levels, fixed costs and operating deficits, with Glen Cove’s debt service more than $9 million or more than 17 percent of its total revenue.

Mayor Ralph Suozzi said the city's deficit is about $4.1 million – another factor in the scoring.

Glen Cove's fiscal issues predate his election in 2005, Suozzi said, adding that back then the deficit neared $15 million.

Suozzi noted that the city has been reducing the deficit ever since.
