Tell Us: Hurricane Season on Long Island This Year

Will you take extra measures to be prepared?

Hurricane season began Saturday, June 1, and this year could be “active or extremely active,” says NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center.

Already county government and Red Cross leaders are urging residents to be prepared, with emergency kits that contain enough food, water and basic supplies for each family member, and will last three days.

Which has us wondering: given the severity of Hurricane Sandy last year, and Irene, the year before, how seriously are you taking these recommendations? Do you think Long Island will see another superstorm this year? Did you learn anything last year that will lead you to prepare for hurricane season differently this year?
