TOBAY Mall Walking Program Registration Open

Bi-weekly sessions will run from Nov. 5 - Dec. 6 at Broadway Mall in Hicksville and Westfield Sunrise Mall in Massapequa.

Town of Oyster Bay Councilman Joe Pinto annonced this week that registration is underway for the Town's free mall walking program, which will run from Monday, Nov. 5 to Thursday, Dec. 6.

"The Town instituted this program to allow people to work out, regardless of the weather outside, and to learn some valuable tips on how to get the most benefits out of walking,” Pinto said in a press release.

Sessions will go from 10-11am on Mondays and Wednesdays at Broadway Mall in Hicksville, and on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Westfield Sunrise Mall in Massapequa. Hicksville walkers meet at the escalator near the Ikea entrance and Massapequa walkers meet on the main level near J.C. Penney.

“Mall walking is an excellent choice for anyone who has been thinking about beginning a new exercise routine," said Pinto. "It’s a positive step for general good health and gives residents an opportunity to make new friends in the process."

Registration forms are available at Town Hall North and South, Community Park facilities and local libraries. They can be returned to the Recreation Division at Town Hall South, Parks Department, 977 Hicksville Road, Massapequa or handed in on the first day of the program.
