TOBAY Offering Free Pet Adoptions in September

Fees waived for dogs and cats.

The Town of Oyster Bay's animal shelter is waiving adoption fees for dogs and cats for the month of September, according to the Town.

"I invite anyone interested in adopting a pet to visit the Town’s animal shelter and see the wide selection of puppies and kittens, as well as older dogs and cats, even some purebreds, available for adoption,” councilwoman Rebecca M. Alesia said. “Trained shelter personnel will work with you to make sure the animal you select is appropriate for your family’s lifestyle.”

The fee is normally $65 for dogs and $59 for cats.

Adoption requires a license fee of $10 for a spayed or neutered animal and $15 for those unspayed or unneutered, or $5 for seniors.

Dogs receive a rabies and 5-in-1 shot and cats receive a rabies and 4-in-1 shot at no charge.

For more information, call the shelter at 516-677-5784.

Reminders for this week:

  • Town clerk's office open until 7:30 p.m.
  • March 31 is the last day to file delinquent general taxes with only first penalty.
