TOBAY to Dredge Tappen Marina
Town says it expects work to be finished well before Memorial Day.
The Town of Oyster Bay awarded a contract Tuesday to dredge sections of the Harry Tappen Marina in Glenwood Landing, a town spokesperson said.
Several areas inside the marina and around boat launch ramps are to be dredged to remove silt and sediment that has accumulated over time, according to spokesperson Phyllis Barry.
"There's a natural ebb and flow," Barry said of the movement of sediment across the basin's bottom over time. "It really depends on what kind of weather we have in the winters."

The contract was awarded jointly to Galvin Brothers, Inc. and Madhue Contracting, Inc., both of Great Neck. The bid was approved for $244,300.
Barry said the start date is yet to be determined by the contractors. She said once it begins, it will last "a couple of weeks" and is expected to be completed well before Memorial Day.

The dredging will allow for better navigability for boats that use the marina.
