Just in case you missed Patch's coverage this week, here is an overview of some of the latest news in Glen Cove.

- City officials revealed this week that they will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the Glen Cove Ferry Terminal and Boat Basin on June 1 at 10 a.m. The project, which is expected to be completed in 2010, will provide transportation from the city to Manhattan and Queens.  

- Mayor Ralph Suozzi also announced during a City Council meeting on Tuesday that the city was recently honored by the New York Conference of Mayors' as an innovator for its Visual Simulation Ordinance. The legislation, city officials said, requires visual simulations or 3D digital animations for proposed large scale developments.

- The City Council also approved establishing May 25 as National Missing Children's Day in Glen Cove on Tuesday. The effort is a part of the city police department's work with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), a non-profit organization that sponsors National Children's Missing Day. 

- Dozens of Nassau County Police Academy recruits attended a community sensitivity program on Tuesday at the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County in Glen Cove. The training, which was a four hour program that discussed law enforcement's role during the Holocaust and how this relates to law officials' role today, is one of the requirements that the cadets have to complete in the academy.

- Patch also caught up with Big Red boys' lacrosse coach Steve Tripp this week for a season recap interview. The team finished 7-7 and earned its second straight playoff appearance. 

- And with the city's annual Memorial Day Parade slated to kick off on Monday, Patch also caught up with this year's honoree Rocco Imerti. The longtime Glen Cove resident served in the Navy from December 1943 to January 1946 during World War II.
