Election Statement

An open letter to residents of the 18th Legislative District.

To all residents of the 18th Legislative District:

The election was hotly contested and I have a narrow lead which I am confident will hold up. At this juncture, while the recount is underway, I would like to make my feelings known on several fronts to you:

First, I would like to congratulate my opponent, Delia DeRiggi-Whitton, for a hard fought campaign. I know that like myself, she believed strongly in her ideals as to what would best serve our community. I commend her for her efforts.

Second, I thank all of those who supported my campaign. Without you, none of this would have been possible. If elected, I will do my best in the Nassau County Legislature to justify your efforts and confidence in me by working tirelessly to represent you to the best of my ability.

Finally, to those in my district who did not support me. Please know that I intend to represent you. I firmly believe that our taxes are too high. This is causing businesses, jobs, and our children to leave our great community. I will do all I can to promote a more efficient, less costly county government without forgetting the people who depend on the services it provides.

That said, the current results show that our district is evenly split on the best way to accomplish this. I want you to know that my door will always be open to you.

Sincerely,

Robert Germino

I think the best course of action would be to contact any board member (their emails are listed) andRead More see what he or she has to say about it. That's one source that I would find reliable on this.
