New York's Finest

Socks and Shoes

A certain photo snapped by a tourist in New York City making its rounds on the Internet shows NYPD Officer Larry DePrimo, of Holbrook, Long Island, kneeling down next to a homeless man on 44th Street near Seventh Avenue he encountered on his patrol. The photo was taken on a very cold night this month. You will note from the photo that the homeless man does not have on shoes or socks. So what, you say? You see these type of people on the street all the time. Well as the late Paul Harvey was famous for saying "now for the rest of the story."

It turns out, after his encounter with the man with no socks or shoes, Officer DePrimo walks over to a shoe store on 42nd Street and buys the man thermal socks and boots, and returns to the man to put them on him.

"There but for the grace of God go I."  God Bless Officer DePrimo. One of the Finest among the Finest.

Thank you.

Nice gesture by the cop, but it turns out it was naive of him to spend his hard earned money on this person. Reports today have him working around barefoot again. Properly sold the boots for drugs or something. Next time to the officer should go to the Salvation Army or church to get free boots for the man,
