Choir Students Selected for All-State Music Conference

Four from Glen Cove High School are among 250 students in New York who will travel to Rochester in November to sing in the All-State Choir.

Four members of Glen Cove High School's student choir will participate in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) All-State Conference this year, the district announced at Monday's school board meeting.

Michael Banks, 16, a Bass I, and Claudia Kolonavic, 16, an Alto II, will join the conference's Mixed Chorus, while Soprano II Victoria Andreotti, 16, and Tenor II Matthew Kolbert, 17, will serve as alternates.

“These students were chosen based on their proficiency scores achieved during the NYSSMA solo festival last year. All four of them achieved perfect scores on their performance,” chorus teacher Edward Norris said in a statement. “Congratulations to them. I know they will make us proud.”
