Connolly Elementary School held its grade 5 science fair Feb. 8, giving students an opportunity to display their knowledge of a range of disciplines including engineering, environmental science and chemistry.
"It enhances the curriculum and is a wonderful opportunity for the students to showcase their research and scientific skills, sharing it with their peers and family members,” said principal Rosemarie Sekelsky.
The fair was not a contest, so participating was the main accomplishment. Teachers helped each student pick a topic, which the children worked on and completed at home.
The school's younger students had the chance to visit the fair and learn about the experiments.
Connolly's fourth-graders will have their own fair on Feb. 28 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
