2010 L.I. Not-For-Profit Fiscal Conference

Not-for-profit organizations are faced today with unique financial and governance challenges caused not only by the changing currents of the struggling economy but by the very nature of their structure, where committed professionals and volunteers are faced with accounting and fiscal governance issues for which they may have limited professional training.

To promote improved fiscal management of local human service, healthcare, religious, cultural and other not-for-profit organizations, SUNY College at Old Westbury, Bank of America Long Island Financial Management Services, and Cerini & Associates are joining together to offer "Taking Care of Business:  The 2010 Fiscal Conference for Long Island's Not-For-Profit Leadership" on Friday, October 22, 2010 on the College at Old Westbury's campus.

"Taking Care of Business" will be a full day "best practices" update, training and immersion experience geared towards executive directors and board members of small to mid-sized not-for-profit organizations on Long Island.  Highlighting the conference will be opening remarks from Newsday Columnist Joye Brown and a luncheon keynote address by Randi Shubin Dresner, President and CEO of Island Harvest.

The goal of the conference is to provide non-accountant fiscal decision makes with tools critical for good fiscal governance and decision making in the current environment, and doing so in a language that is easily understood.  To accomplish this goal, presenters will include highly regarded certified public accountants from the membership of the New York State Society of CPAs and members of the accounting faculty from the College at Old Westbury's School of Business.
