Finley Student Plays Esteemed NYC Venue

Finley Middle School student Judy Tuifel added her talents to a group of the best student musicians in the state in December, performing with the strings section in the Gemini Youth Orchestra 2012 Winter Concert .

The prestigious event was held in New York City at the Symphony Space performing arts center. 

Young musicians at levels four and five of the New York State School Music Association performed "A Night at the Opera."

Tuifel played as a member of the Violin II group.

"The Gemini Youth Orchestra (GYO) offers progressively challenging options for student musicians at the pre-college level," according to the district. "Gemini Youth musicians must audition and have the opportunity to work with internationally acclaimed conductors, composers, and coaches."

The GYO regularly plays such venues as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, and Long Island venues including the Tilles Center, the John Adams Playhouse at Hofstra University, and Adelphi's redesigned Concert Hall.
