Free Children's Performances Coming to Tobay in February

"Magical Music and More" productions sponsored by the town in schools, libraries.

The Children’s "Magical Music and More" series will host "Pirate School,", presented by David Engel on Sunday, Feb. 3, to kick-off free young-people's performances all through February. 

In addition to ‘Pirate School,’ the Town of Oyster Bay will host performances by Jonathan Geffner and Friends, a puppet show performance by the Central Park Zoo, and a performance highlighting ‘a magical approach to reading,’ by The Magic of Amore.

“The Town is pleased to present these delightful performances as part of its Children’s Magical Music & More series,” Councilman Chris Coschignano said. “This program, presented to residents free of charge, runs throughout the year at local schools and libraries.

This month's lineup:

  • David Engel presents ‘Pirate School’ will take place on Sunday, February 3, at 3 p.m. at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, located at 999 Old Country Road, Plainview, 11803.
  • Jonathan Geffner and Friends, featuring ventriloquist fun with a hilarious cast of whimsical puppet partners, will take place on Sunday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Massapequa Public Library, Bar Harbour Branch, located at 40 Harbor Lane, Massapequa, 11762.
  • The Central Park Zoo presents Wildlife Theater “Butterfly Boogie,” which highlights wildlife conservation and environmental science issues using puppets, is scheduled for Saturday, Feb 16, at 2 p.m., at the Bethpage Public Library, located at 47 Powell Avenue, Bethpage.  This performance had previously been scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 20, but was rescheduled to the cancellation of school district winter breaks.
  • To round out the month, The Magic of Amore presents Extra! Extra! Read All About It!, featuring a magical approach to reading with James Lazzarini, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m., at the Locust Valley Public Library, located at 170 Buckram Road, Locust Valley. 

The Children’s Magical Music & More series is sponsored by the Cultural and Performing Arts (CAPA) Division of the Town of Oyster Bay’s Department of Community & Youth Services. For further information, call 797-7900.
