Glen Cove High School 2013 Valedictorian Announced

Elias Blinkoff is studying neuroscience as an intern at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories.

Glen Cove High School senior Elias Blinkoff will be the school's valedictorian in 2013, the district announced Wednesday.

Blinkoff is the academically top-ranked student in his class, and was recently recognized by the Glen Cove Board of Education for being a Commended Student in the National Merit Scholarship Program. He ranked among the nation's 34,000 top scorers on the Preliminary Scholastic Assessment Test (PSAT).

Blinkoff's list of achievements doesn't end there. He recently attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was a finalist for the Superintendent’s Cup for athletic and academic achievement.

He is participating in a prestigious after-school intership studying cognitive neuroscience with Dr. Sachin Kanade in the Partnership of the Future science research program with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratories.

Blinkoff also completed the Simons Summer Research Fellowship Program at Stony Brook University last year.

“Elias is one of the most brilliant students I have met in my entire educational career,” said Superintendent of Schools Joseph Laria.
