Glen Cove High School Performing 'Little Women'

Ticket sales from Friday, Saturday shows go to Long Beach recovery fund.

The Glen Cove High School Masquers Society production of 'Little Women' will show Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., the district announced.

A dinner will precede Friday's show, where a reduced ticket price for the play will be available. Dining begins at 5 p.m in the high school's cafeteria.

All proceeds will benefit the school's "City 2 City" fundraiser, which aids victims of Hurricane Sandy in Glen Cove's sister city of Long Beach.

The fall production of the show, based on the play by Melissa Chamberlain adapted from Louisa May Alcott's 1868 novel, is directed by Matthew Rottino.

The district described the plot: "Under the guidance of their beloved mother, the four young March sisters – tempestuous Jo, motherly Meg, shy Beth, and spoiled baby Amy – struggle to keep their family together while father is away serving in the Civil War. Each girl strives to find her true self through privation, illness, and sibling rivalry in this wonderful adaptation."
