Voters OK $70.3 Million School Budget

Farnan and McQuair elected to Glen Cove Board of Education.

Taxpayers approved the Glen Cove School District's $70.3 million 2010-11 budget Tuesday, with 63 percent of voters supporting the spending plan. The unofficial tally was 1,530 in favor and 885 opposed.

The budget, which will require the average homeowner to shell out about $212 more in school taxes next year, is an increase of a little more than $1 million in expenditures from the current year.

Administrators in the district say they are breathing a sigh of relief now that the spending plan has passed and they are looking forward to continuing education and services in the district.
