Gribbin Kids Get Hands-On With Healthy Eating

Students get lesson in snacking without the processed sugar, grease and empty calories.

Healthy living has been a theme this year at Gribbin Elementary School, and activities like a recent snack project are being used to help students experience making positive choices. 

"Teachers have been discussing the importance of maintaining a healthy diet and lifestylewith their students. The initiative serves to educate the students on healthy choices andfood options in everyday life," said a district statement.

Activities target overall health, specifically the two main aspects of nutrition and exercise.

For their last project, students created treats including smoothies, trail mix and yogurt parfaits. They then exchanged their snacks with other classes.
