Jumping with Heart: Landing School Raises $7K+

Glen Cove students raise money to benefit the American Heart Association.

Glen Cove students at Landing Elementary School raised $7,181 this year at the recent “Jump Rope for Heart.”

More than 145 Landing students and staff members participated in this year's effort, which benefits the American Heart Association.

Congratulations went to Max Lasser, who raised a school high of $415. Other top jumpers include:

  • Mialani Martinez: $330
  • Mikey and Lucas Mattern: $300 each
  • William Merkel, Daniel May, and Ryan Houghton: $200 each 
  • Kevin Kelly Larkin: $190 each
  • Evan Rodriguez: $160
  • Vanessa Vela: $151
  • Kristen Sita: $150

Through the Jump Rope for Heart program, students secure donations and pledge to jump rope for extended periods of time to raise awareness and much-needed monies for the AHA. Landing School Principal Dimitri Kryoneris and his three children, Gabriella, Sophia, and Luciano also participated. Landing physical education teacher Karen Serani coordinated the event.
