Laria's Resignation Sparks Questions

What action do you want to see from the Glen Cove Board of Ed?

The sudden departure of Superintendent Joseph Laria Thursday left a school district wrought with allegations with a few more questions.

The Board of Education did not give a reason for Laria's resignation in its online statement or at its special meeting Thursday evening.

As residents at that meeting questioned Board trustees about an incident involving Laria, three high school students and his car, Trustee Donna Brady addressed the concerns:

"Everything happened very quickly last night and this morning. It went from an incident we were hearing about to the superintendent resigning. We take responsibility for following through and making sure that all t's were crossed and i's dotted; in other words, the kids need to be -- we need to know that they were taken care of, and we need to know that parents were informed if they were supposed to be informed. If there's anything going on, we need to follow through and be sure things happened the way they're supposed to. And we don't know yet, so we're not done; we're in the middle of this and we care very much about the kids," Brady said.

Do you think the Board should reveal the reason for Laria's resignation, and to what extent? Tell us in the comments.
