It was a soggy first day, as Glen Cove School District welcomed back students Tuesday. Kindergarten through second grade students at and Schools took part in several activities designed to get to know their teachers, "break the ice" with new classmates and prepare them for the new school year, according to a news release.
One class of students were introduced to the class pet, while children at were busy sharpening pencils. Teachers provided their classes with mini orientations to help guide students in the school year ahead.
All four Glen Cove elementary schools, as well as and , opened smoothly despite inclement weather and power outages the previous week, according to a news release.
