The Deasy Elementary School Parent Teacher Association hosted a shopping expo at the school Friday night to raise money for student activities at the school.
The fundraiser featured local businesses and vendors including Lia Sophia, Pampered Chef, Avon and Tupperware. Each business rented individual booths to sell products, intended to promote a symbiotic relationship between business and education, according to Deasy PTA President Janice Larocca.
"It's a great way for businesses to get exposure, too," said Larocca. "All money goes to childrens' activities, many of which depends on fund raising by the PTA."

A massage center was a hit at the expo, staffed by the licensed massage therapists of Dr. Maxine Cappel Mayreis's office.
"We love to help out. We're in the helping industry," said therapist Shawn Lockridge. "Whenever we can do something like this to help the community and our children, we're all for it."
