Recount Results Reported for Glen Cove School Vote

No change in outcome, officials say.

A recount of the Glen Cove School Board election and budget vote resulted in the same outcome originally reported on May 21.

An official recount was conducted Monday morning, a spokesman for the school district told Patch.

“The recount reads: Yes 799, No 780,” he said. “Originally we had 779 no votes, so the margin changed from 20 votes to 19.”

There was no change in trustee outcome, he said.

Three candidates – Grady FarnanRichard Maccarone and Eric Bailey – vied for two available seats as school board trustees.  Maccarone and Farnan were elected. Maccarone received 1,050 votes, Farnan received 859 votes and Bailey received 832.

The slim margins, both for the budget and the school board election prompted the board to announce a recount after the results were reported on the day of the vote.
