Resident is Part of Award-Winning Student EMS

Andrew Carpenter is a member of Binghamton's student volunteer EMS, which has been awarded 'Agency of the Year.'

Binghamton University student Andrew Carpenter of Glen Cove is a member of the 2011-2012 Harpur’s Ferry Student Volunteer Ambulance Service Squad, which recently won the  2011 ‘Agency of the Year’ award.

The group was honored by the Susquehanna Regional EMS Council, Inc. for their excellence in service to students, faculty and staff on and off the Binghamton campus. Carpenter is in charge of training at Harpur's Ferry, and Lieutenant-elect of .

About 100 student volunteers work up to 24 hours per week for the organization during the academic year. Each must participate in a minimum of one 72-hour advanced first-aid class, and a 140-hour EMT course.
