School District Welcomes New Asst. Superintendent for Business

Victoria Galante comes to Glen Cove from East Moriches School District.

The Glen Cove Board of Education welcomed Victoria Galante as the School District’s new assistant superintendent for business on Oct. 1.

Galante's responsibilities will include overseeing the district’s finances, including budget development, cash flow management and numerous other duties associated with the operation of the schools.

Prior to arriving in Glen Cove, Galante held the assistant superintendent for business position in the East Moriches School District with similar responsibilities: in charge of payroll management, financial reporting, food services, operations and maintenance, transportation, purchasing and supply management, auditing and several other areas associated with finance and operations. She began working in East Moriches as an administrative assistant to the assistant superintendent for business and was elevated to the assistant superintendency in just six months.

One of her major responsibilities before assuming the role of the district’s chief financial officer was to implement suggestions made by the district’s external and internal auditor with regards to accounting and reporting procedures.

"I am happy to be a part of the new team here at Glen Cove,” said Galante. “I look forward to working with the Board and administration to deliver the important educational resources and services our children deserve while securing a sound financial future for our families and taxpayers."

Galante also completed an administrative internship in the nearby Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District prior to coming to East Moriches, working at the building and district level, constructing master and testing schedules, participating in various principal and crisis team hearings, organizing transportation schedules, and identifying and tracking at-risk students, among other duties. She also taught computer courses at Oyster Bay-East Norwich, as well as for Eastern and Western Suffolk BOCES.

Prior to entering the education arena, Galante served as comptroller for the Port Washington Yacht Club, was an accounting supervisor for Atlas Van Lines and worked six years for Morgan Stanley and Company as an accountant. She holds professional memberships in NYSASBO, Suffolk ASBO and the NYS Office of Comptroller’s Local Government Leadership Institute, among other groups.

“I am happy to introduce Victoria as the newest member of our central office team,” said Glen Cove Superintendent of Schools Maria L. Rianna. “Her knowledge and experience will be an asset to our work!”

Galante received her Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Science from Dowling College, and her professional certificate from Stony Brook University.
